OZEMPIC BUTT?? It’s A Thing!!

Yes, you read that right. Move over Ozempic face (I’m looking at you, Elon Musk) the internet (and now the mainstream press) has discovered a new side effect of rapid GLP-1 weight loss: “Ozempic butt.”

What Exactly Is It?

“Ozempic butt” is an affectionate nickname for what happens when you lose not only fat around your middle, but also the natural padding in your backside.

Even the serious press is now talking about it.

This isn’t just TikTok chatter.

Recent features in The Times and The New England Journal of Medicine highlight that: rapid weight loss burns fat and lean tissue (muscle + bone).

The result? A “deflated” appearance which has led to “Ozempic face” up top and “Ozempic butt” down below.

Experts warn of possible long-term risks like muscle wasting and bone thinning if people under-eat or lose weight too quickly.

This is borne out in the GLP clinical trials which showed that up to 40% of weight was lost as “lean mass” (for which read muscle and bone).

So while there’s a funny side to the disappearing behind, the biology is very real.

Why Does It Happen?

Rapid fat loss: Your bum is padded with fat. Lose it too fast, and the cushion shrinks.

Muscle loss: Without enough protein or resistance training, lean tissue disappears too.

Skin lag: Skin can’t always keep up, so things may sag or look “deflated balloon” rather than “Brazilian Butt Lift.”

So How Do I Keep My Cushion???

The good news? It’s not inevitable….

Always opt for the lowest possible dose: More jab is NOT better. Aim for a gentle quieting of the food noise. Piling on ever escalating doses just speeds up “deflation” and ends up costing you a fortune.

Protein first: Aim for 2g per kg based on your ideal body weight (not how much you weigh today) on a daily basis (meat, fish, eggs, dairy, legumes). So around 120g protein for an average woman and 150g for the average bloke.

Strength training: Squats, hip thrusts, resistance bands: your glutes deserve care and attention.

Hydration PLUS micronutrients: Vitamins A, C, E, zinc, collagen support all help skin bounce back.

The Lighter Side!!

Yes, it’s funny. Yes, it’s meme-worthy. But “Ozempic Butt” is also your body waving a cheeky red flag: “Don’t just starve me: feed me properly and keep me strong.”

Bottom Line (do you see what I did there?)

“Ozempic butt” really is a thing. But it doesn’t have to be your thing. With the right nutrition, exercise, and a sensible dosing approach, you can keep the weight off and keep your cushion.

Because, and let’s be honest: nobody wants to look fabulous in a red-carpet gown, only to sit down and feel like they’ve landed on a park bench.
